Ram Navami: The Birth Story of Lord Rama

Ram Navmi is a Hindu festival that was observed on the ninth and last day of Chaitra Navratri. As per the Hindu mythology, Ram Navami marks the arrival of Lord Vishnu's seventh avatar, Rama. Every year this festival usually falls in the Gregorian months of March or April. This festival is universally worshiped by devotees of Rama. Additionally, Rama Navmi is specifically significant to the Vaishnavite tradition of Hinduism.

On this day, people worship Rama at their home where miniature idols of infant Rama are bathed and clothed, before being placed in a cradle. As per the mythological beliefs, the ceremony is accompanied by stories of Rama, or a religious song. A lot of devotees also observe fast on this propitious day.

The auspicious day of Ram Navami is originated from the legend of Rama. However, it also includes reverence for Sita, Lakshmana and Hanumana, owing to their important correlation to the Rama's story.
