Ravishing Start for Khelo India School Games

Khelo India School Games (KISG) is started by Indian government to promote sports among students. This involves mass participation and promotion of sports. 3,298 nominations have been received by the organizing committee of KISG and 4,452 athletes and officials from different states and Union territories are expected to put in 16 disciplines in which these competitions will be taken from schools to Olympic Games.    

Most participants are being confirmed from Delhi (341), Maharashtra (321) and Haryana (350) and still counting is going on mainly from these cities. The sports which are being played in KISG are Badminton, Boxing, Gymnastics, Judo, Shooting, Swimming, Archery, Athletics, Weightlifting and Wrestling; these are the individual 10 disciplines and six team sports are Basketball, Football, Hockey, Kabaddi, Kho-Kho and Volleyball.

There are 199 gold medals in Khelo India school games. The games which are going to have the expected participation are in athletic, where 640 boys and girls vying for 36 gold medals. In swimming, 592 participants are expected to bring 35 gold medals.

There will be some known player who will be participating in KISG on 31st January,2018 such as Anish Bhanwala from Haryana, the World Junior World Championship Shooter; he won gold medal in 25m standard pistol competition in Suhl, Germany and Jeremy Lalrinnunga from Mizoram, he won the silver medal in Asian continental qualifying competition for the Youth Olympic Games. They both are of the ages of 15. Bommadevara Dhirij is an Archer who has won five gold medals in the SGFI National Competition which was held last month and also claimed silver medal in Asian Continental qualifying competition.
