
RBI Will Issue Rs.100/- Notes In Lavender With Gujarat's Rani Ki Vav

The RBI has given colored wash to the last denomination of India that was not yet touched. The 100 rupee note will be getting a lavender color to it and will be in circulation by next month. PM Narendra Modi announced demonetisation 2 years ago and our old 100 rupees note were the most sought after at that time. The new note is part of a revised design series introduced by the current government after demonetization was announced in November 2016. The new features of the nore would be Gujarat's 'Rani Ki Vav' (queen's stepwell) along with the famous Swachh Bharat logo and slogan in reverse. Mahatma Gandhi's placement on the notes remains the same.
RBI's statement revealed some of the features of the note - dimensions of the note will be 66 mm x 142 mm, base color is lavender and note will feature other designs, patterns as well. All the other notes issued with be considered as legal tender. The new note would be smaller than the current one which means that the banks have to recalibrate the ATMs once again to accommodate the new notes.
UNESCO recognised Gujarat's 'Rani-ki-Vav' a world heritage site in 2014. This 11the century wonder is located at Patan. The structure will make a grand debut on the new currency. 200 rupee note has Sanchi Stupa, 50 rupee note has Stone Chariot in Hampi and 10 rupee note has Konark Sun temple on the reverse side.
