"Roger Federer Doubted Himself Due To Nadal And Djokovic"
Editorials News | Aug-07-2018
Mats Wilander has made some interesting comparisons between Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal in an interview. He said that even though he is a big fan of Nadal, he understands tennis in quite a different manner than his competitors does. Nadal works tennis. He is a worker and this draws a big contrast between him and his rivals. For Federer, Wilander said that he is now a more complete player than he was ten years ago. At that time, he was at a winning streak and won almost everything. "Without any doubt, he could do everything he could, it was almost ridiculous", he added.
And then he added a surprising statement saying that this is when Rafael nadal and Novak Djokovic entered the world of tennis which made him starting to question himself and his game. In the years 2011-2016, Federer lost many games to his rivals and won just some Grand Slam titles. Wilander said that he has weaknesses like any other player but now he has a clear plan. Not saying that this wasn't the case before but now it is way more clear. However, there is another reason too. Because of his injury he has become relaxed and enjoys playing. He feels blessed to be able to play again. He feel that now, for him, winning means less and playing means a little bit more.
