Rogers Centre: A Stadium since Ages

Rogers Centre was originally known as SkyDome and it is a multi – purpose stadium in Downtown Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

It is situated just southwest of the CN Tower near the northern shore of Lake Ontario. It was opened in 1989 on the former Railway Lands. This stadium is home to the Toronto Blue Jays of Major League Baseball (MLB). In its early years, the stadium was home to the Toronto Argonauts of the Canadian Football League (CFL) and the Toronto Raptors of the National Basketball Association (NBA). From 2008 to 2013, the Buffalo Bills of the National Football League (NFL) played an annual game at this stadium only. Rogers Centre is a sports venue in its primary usage. People can find it hosting other large scale events too. It becomes a venue of big events like conventions, trade fairs, concerts, travelling carnivals and monster truck shows. After the purchase of this stadium by Rogers Communications, the stadium was renamed as “Rogers Centre”. Rogers Communications is the same firm which also owned the Toronto Blue Jays in 2005. This is the first stadium to have a fully retractable motorized roof. Apart from that, it has 348 – room hotel attached to it along with 70 rooms from where one can see the field.
