RTE Seats Admission From February 25

The education department has rolled out the online admission process for the 25% seats which are reserved under the Right to Education Act at unaided non-minority schools in the state for the next academic year. Online applications will be given from 25th February. The municipal corporation in Mumbai implements admissions in the city. The organization is currently accepting registrations from the schools. A circular is issued by the Directorate of primary school. According to this circular, schools can register up to 22nd February. The website will start accepting applications from parents on 25th February. To submit online applications, there is a deadline which is 11th March. An official said that details on how to apply, which documents are required, and about the process will be uploaded on the official website soon. This information will also be advertised through help centers.

On completion of the verification of the applications, the first lottery will be released on 4th March. Candidates will be allotted schools and will have to submit their original documents for the confirmation of admissions. Five rounds of admission were held last year for more than 8,000 seats. The number of applicants who got admission ranges from 3,500 of 10,000. The civic body said on getting blamed by activists that it was a demand-supply mismatch with 72 schools receiving zero applications.

Admissions to Right to Education (RTE) quota seats for the academic year 2018-19 will start from February. A timetable is scheduled for the same by the state Department of Public Instructions. According to this timetable, seat aspirants for the 25 % quota RTE seats can submit applications from 20th February 20 to 21st March. The first round of online lottery for seat selection will be held on 6th April.

Meanwhile, private unaided schools in the state are allowed to complete the 75 % of non-RTE seats only after 30th May.

Here are the important dates related to admission:

• Submission of online applications under RTE quota: From 20th February to 21st March
• First round seat allotment through an online lottery: 6th April
• 7th April to 17th April: Applicants who have been allotted seats in the first round to get admission at the respective schools
• Second round seat allotment: 26th April
• 27th April to 5th May: Applicants who got allotted seats in the 2nd round to get admission at respective schools
• Third round seat allotment: 14th May
• 16th May to 22nd May: Students who have been allotted seats in the third round to get admission at the respective schools
