Rural Uplift Programme Of India

Rural development in India is really important as it helps in flourishing the economy of India and helps in overcoming problems like illiteracy, unemployment and sanitation. The Government of India started working on rural development after India got independence, rural upliftment programmes were started in 1952 under the community development programme.

Many villagers are still unaware of different technologies, different things that they can explore and they still have an orthodox mind. These rural upliftment programmes help in development and improvement in the village and provide direction and certain strategies to the villagers in order to help them in their occupation and lifestyle. Such programmes also help in increasing the villagers social and economic status.
There are many programmes and schemes initiated by the government for the welfare of rural part of the country. For example, in the rural part of India, there were many women artisans who were facing troubles like they were having problems in getting economic stability and economic empowerment so to overcome such problems the Government of India started a rural upliftment programme named. "MAHILA COIR YOJANA"( MYC).
Which provides 1) Self-employment to women artisans, 2) This scheme also provides skill development and training, 3) welfare activities and women empowerment.
Even the farmers in the rural area face many problems such as irrigation, climate and agriculture tools. Some schemes and programmes are there which help farmers to get rid of these problems. The name od the following upliftment programmes are:
"KRISHI SINCHAI YOJANA" AND "RAIN FED AREA DEVELOPMENT"

In 2016, the central government changed Indira Awas Yojana is a programme named "PRADHAN MANTRI GRAMIN AWAS YOJANA" which will provide housing to the poor in the rural sector of India except for Delhi and Chandigarh.
The North-Eastern part of India is not valued much nor respected so to make the condition better in the North-East part of the country government has initiated a programme that is the "NORTHEAST RURAL LIVELIHOOD PROJECT" (NERLP). This project has been initiated for the empowerment of rural livelihood especially that of women and most of the marginalised and disadvantaged groups. In four North Eastern states Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim and Tripura.

Issues And Challenges Of Rural Development In India

The Government has also started a flagship programme known as the "TAMIL VILLAGE HABITATION IMPROVEMENT" (THAI). In this, the government provides basic infrastructure and facilities. It would be shocking to know the fact that Tamil Nadu is the only state in India focussing on the habitation.

There are several other rural upliftment programmes like NATIONAL RURAL EMPLOYMENT GUARANTEE SCHEME IN BIHAR. So we get to know that the government is working to uplift the rural area by launching certain programmes. But there is one major problem which obstructs the development of the rural area. Due to lack of information and awareness in a rural area, the people are unaware of many upliftment programmes from which they can be in a good profit. To get rid of such problems the government should also spread awareness about the schemes the launch in rural areas. This would result in better development of the rural areas in India.
