
RUSA Approved Rs 335 Crore for The Betterment of Higher Education

Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA) has approved project proposals worth Rs 335 crore. The projects were approved with the motive of developing the higher education sector for a period of four years. RUSA 2.0 is focusing more on the challenge-level funding (CLF) to the states and institutions. Projects of worth around Rs 178 crore were approved in the first round of funding. Rs 210 crore for 105 colleges are approved by the ministry of human resources development based on state higher education department’s application. out of 105 colleges 96 are in aided sector and others are falling in government sector. Rs 2 crore will be taken by each college. Colleges who have a score between 2.5 to 3.5 in the national assessment and accreditation council (NAAC) will get the grant. About 137 aided colleges are recommended for the grant by the state government. RUSA grant works on 60:40 ratio among the central and state governments. Five colleges in aided sector have become eligible for a grant of Rs 5 crore for making their quality and excellence better. Rajagiri College of Social Science, Ernakulam, Marian College, Kuttikkanam, Idukki, St Joseph’s College, Devagiri. Kozhikode, Farook College, Kozhikode, Mar Athanasios College, Kothamangalam, Ernakulam are the colleges that have been qualified for the funding.
