Sakshi, Vinesh Will Guide India Women Wrestlers Through Asian Games

Sakshi Malik, who is an Olympic bronze medallist and Vinesh Phogat, who has won gold at the Commonwealth Games will lead the 6 member Indian women wrestling team through the Asian Games. The competition will be held in Indonesia later this year. Sakshi has been a pioneer in the women's wrestling by winning bronze medals at this year's Gold Coast Commonwealth games as well as at the 2016 Rio Olympics. Both Sakshi and Vinesh have been exempted from the trials by the Wrestling Federation of India because of their past and current performances in the game.

They will be carrying high hopes for India by leading the team in the 50 kg and 62 kg freestyle categories even as 4 other wrestlers would be going through trials before their tickets for the Asian games will be booked. The women wrestlers that will be representing the Indian team at the Asian Games are Pinki (53 kg), Divya Kakran (68 kg), Pooja Dhanda (57 kg) and Kiran (72 kg).

The games are scheduled to take place from 18th of August 2018 to 2nd of September 2018 in Jakarta and Palembang.
