Saurabh Chaudhary Wins Gold in Asian Airgun Championship, His 4th in 4 Months

Saurabh Chaudhary, a 16 year old, is an Indian Sports Shooter. He comes from the family of farmers who reside at Meerut, Uttar Pradesh. He won his first Gold medal at the 2018 Asian Games in 10 m Air Pistol. He has already proved himself at Junior world championship games by winning many Gold medals and has set a new junior world record in the ISSF Junior World Cup in Suhl, Germany.

Sometime later he broke his own World Record with a score of 245.5 and claimed Gold in Junior Men 10m Air Pistol at 2018 World Championship in Changwon, Korea. Saurabh Chaudhary continued his incredible run by claiming his 4th gold medal in just 4 months that set a record in the name of 16 year old teenager. In the mixed team match, the Teen duo, shooting sensations Manu Bhaker and Saurabh Chaudhary shattered the junior world record on their way to winning the 10m air pistol mixed team gold medal in the 11th Asian Airgun Championships here on 9th November 2018, thus on the concluding day of the said tournament, the Indians got the better of the Chinese pairing of Wang Xiaoyu and Hong Shuqi in the final to win the gold. India’s junior shooting squad therefore ended the championship with a final tally of 11 medals, including four gold in their bag.  Youth Olympic Games champions Manu and Saurabh finished with a score of 485.4 in the final, well ahead of the Chinese players who managed 477.9. Another junior Chinese team won bronze whereas India’s second pair in the finals, Abhidnya Patil and Anmol Jain, finished fourth in the tally. In the qualifying, the pair of Manu and Saurabh were second among five teams, with a composite score of 762 out of 800. After a strong start, the Indian pair of Manu and Saurabh dominated the final conclusion day, leaving the Chinese players to just settle for the silver and bronze medals. India's women's junior team comprising of Manu, Abhidnya and Neha have won the team a silver medal in the 10m Air Pistol with a combined tally of 1694 points, going below team China with very short margin who scored 1704 to win gold.
