Saurabh Shoots the Gold

Saurabh Choudhary hails from a small village Kalina in Meerut. Uttar Pradesh. He is just 16 years of age and started shooting just three years back in 2015.He trained at the Amit Sheoran's Academy at Benoli near Baghpat which is about 53 kilometers away from Meerut.

He has been making waves at the junior circuit since he started shooting. In June this year Saurabh had set a new world record winning a gold medal in the ISSF Junior World Cup in Suhl, Germany. Saurabh shot a total of 243.7 in the 10m air rifle pistol event at the International Shooting Sport Federation tournament. In December 2017 Saurabh had qualified for the 2018 Youth Olympic Games with a gold medal and set a junior world record of 243.1 at the 10th Asian Air gun championship that was held in Wako City in Japan.

On Tuesday debutant Saurabh made India very proud by putting up a stellar performance to win the Men's 10m Air Pistol gold medal at the 18thAsian games in Palembang Indonesia. He shot a games record score of 240.7 in the final. His last two shots were 10.2 and 10.4 which gave him the decisive lead against the Japanese.

Saurabh did not show any signs of pressure; neither did he display any signs of nerves during the qualifications held earlier in the day in which he breezed his way to score 586.

Saurabh is a student of class XI. He will be off to participate at the World Championships after the Asian Games.
