Second Edition of Khelo India Youth Games to Start From 9th January, 2018

Pune is all set to host the second edition of Khelo India Youth Games-2019 which will held from the 9th to 20th of January. It was revealed on 9th December 2018 in a press conference at New Delhi by Union Sports Minister Col Rajyavardhan Rathore, he further said that in total approx. nine thousand youth will participate in this edition of the game. Whereas last year only around 3500 school children had participated in different categories in all the sports all over the event.
Another important thing that was mentioned by the union sports minister that in this edition of Khelo India Youth Games the university players will also feature to show their talent and capabilities. Further he said that his Ministry is looking forward to develop a sports mechanism that basically connects local talents to global tournaments. He said that in the meanwhile, the government will make efforts to involve private organizations to fund and support the games as for the fulfillment of the requirement of youth and its efforts to groom the talents in various kinds of shorts. Though sources it envisaged that this year under Khelo India program, the government aims to provide scholarships to 1500 students from across the country so as to support them for reaching the higher levels. The Khelo India games are scheduled to be held at the Shree Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex in Pune and will see over 9,000 participants from 29 states and 7 Union Territories. There will be a team of 6,200 professional athletes involved along with 1800 Technical Officials to regulate things, 1000 volunteers to manage the program and 1000 personnel who will be working to make the games a successful function to achieve the motive. At the launch it was announced that games will have two category of U-17 and U-21, the function was attended by Manu Bhaker, Jeremy Lalrinnunga, Saurabh Chaudhary, Lakshya Sen, Esha Singh, Tababi Devi, Srihari Natraj and double Olympic medallist Sushil Kumar in the attendance. In the inaugural edition, to make it attractive Khelo India had a movement called “Kheloge Kudoge Banoge lajawaab” to encourage all kids to play every day and this time around they have personalized a #5MinuteAur campaign, which mainly aims at encouraging children’s to play for extra 5 minutes.
