Lal Bahadur Shastri was an Indian politician who served as a second prime minister of India. He was also known for his ordinary lifestyle. He was the man who promoted the white revolution that was the campaign brought up to increase the productivity of milk. Lal Bahadur Shastri was the man who gave the slogan that is "Jai Jawan Jai Kisan". So let us have a glance at the life of the second prime minister of India Lal Bahadur Shastri.
He was born on 2nd October 1904 at Mughalsarai, Uttar Pradesh, India. His father's name was Mr. Shradha Prasad and his mother's name was Mrs. Ram Dulari Devi. He completed his graduation from Kashi Vidyapeeth in 1926. Lal Bahadur Shastri was just 16 when Gandhiji called upon his countrymen to join the non-cooperative movement. After the call from Gandhiji, Lal Bahadur Shastri decided to give up his studies in response to Mahatma Gandhi's call for the non-cooperative movement. He then joined politics as a follower of Gandhiji. Before India got independence, Shastri gained a lot of experience as a minister of Home Affairs and minister of transport in Uttar Pradesh. In 1952 Lal Bahadur Shastri moved to Delhi and was elected to the central Indian legislature 1952 and became the union minister for railways and transport. Lal Bahadur Shastri was deeply influenced by the political technique of Mahatma Gandhi. He gave a famous slogan "Jai Jawan Jai Kisan". Lal Bahadur Shastri was also nicknamed as "Man of peace". He was a follower of Gandhiji's ideology.
Shastri was known for his honesty and humanity. He died on 11th January 1966. He was awarded the "Bharat Ratna" in 1966 after his death. Shastri was a man of quiet greatness who lived for India and a piece and who died for India for peace.
