Shane Watson Batted In The IPL Final With Massive Handicap: Harbhajan Singh Reveals
Editorials News | May-16-2019
Shane Watson almost took the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) to the triumph of IPL 2019 with a brilliant stroke in the final on May 12. But it was not for the Australian and Chennai team, as the Mumbai Indians won the IPL 2019 final in one fell swoop. To secure a fourth record IPL title, Harbhajan Singh, who was part of the CSK playing XI in the IPL final, told that Shane Watson batted in the final after receiving six points on his knee after an injury while performing the field.
Shane Watson fought bravely for Chennai, but could not take his team to the line, as CSK was eliminated by 148. Lasith Malinga pitched a brilliant final, giving away only seven runs when nine had won it for CSK. Shane Wastson batted in the CSK innings until he ran out in the final, breaking four six and eight legs in his 59-ball and 80-ball hit.
After the dismissal of Watson, CSK needed four of the final two balls, but failed to score the required races and lost the game by one race when the Mumbai Indians won a fourth IPL title.
Shane Watson is a right-handed hitter and a fast and skillful mid-swing pitcher. He debuted in 2002 at One Day International and retired in 2016 as the No. 1 T20I in the world. He was the last player to retire from the golden age of Australia in the early 2000s.
In a final that bit its nails, the Indians of Mumbai won the IPL 2019 for just one race and prevented defending champions Chennai Super Kings from retaining the trophy. Chasing a modest goal of 150, most of the Chennai hitters could not meet, except for Shane Watson. Watson almost took them for the line but was finally fired in a last exhaustion. Although he lost the game, the Australian is receiving a lot of praise after it was learned that he was playing with a bleeding knee.
A day after the final, photos of the great Australian hitter who played with what appeared to be a bloody knee appeared when the images showed his yellow pants with bloodstains. Despite the injury, Watson managed a brilliant comeback of 80 runs and 59 balls to change the momentum of the game in favor of Chennai. The CSK came close to winning big, but a magnificent slow ball by Lasith Malinga helped MI win the game by 1 race and fourth title.
