Shreyas Iyer Is Not Worried About Recent Batting Collapses

As the IPL 2019 progresses, the points table continue to change and it’s very hard to guess who will emerge as the champions in this edition.

In a conversation, the young captain of Delhi Capital, Shreyas Iyer mentioned that the key is to improve and work on the respective areas that can be improved. Commenting on the recent match that witnessed a batting collapse, he said that that he is not that concerned as it will improve.

Decoding the match wherein DC lost by 14 runs against Kings XI Punjab, DC saw a dramatic batting collapse, losing seven wickets in just eight runs! In the next game too that was held at Feroz Shah Kotla stadium DC only managed to score 129 for eight wickets and lost the match to Sunrisers Hyderabad who won the match by 5 wickets.

In the match with Royal Challengers Bangalore, that was held on Sunday, while it looked a god day for DC as they were going strong at 145 for 3; however Axar Patel changed the game as DC lost three crucial wickets for just two runs added on the board.

Talking specifically about the batting collapse, the captain viewed that the collapse was not a major concern, however innovating ideas that takes the team further and keeps it moving is essential. He also mentioned that the team and the DC management will think of such areas where they can still work upon. Shreyas scored 67 runs in 50 balls and admitted that it was quite tough to score runs in that wicket. Explaining the conditions, he said that it was a tough pitch and he relied a lot in playing his cut-shots and waited for the balls to play those shots. Also maneuvering the ball and rotating the strike by taking singles was his priority. He futher states that the team fell short of 10-15 runs on the wicket as it was two-paced and specially he was very happy about the way South-Afrcian bowler - Rabada bowled the last two overs, as it was very motivating for the team.

The cricketer who hails from Mumbai strongly feels that he is feeling confident at the moment and wants to continue his game in the same way! He claims that winning a match is the biggest satisfaction. Delhi Capitals take on Kolkata Knight Riders in the next match on Friday.
