Editorials News | Dec-10-2018
The team of Simi Valley high school wrestling team prepared well to perform their best at the tournament at Beresford international at Rim of the World high School. On December 5, 2018, wrestling coach Chad Davidson behaved just like a young kid as on Christmas morning just before last week’s Beresford Tournament at Rim of the World High School.
The coach was very much confident on his team performance. Davidson said before the match that “I just wanted to see what it would look like,” prior to the inception of tournament it looks like, Simi Valley finally became the winner of this season based on their attitude and competency. The hardworking sportskid displayed a totally overshadowing performance, easily taking first place in the team race (268 points), well ahead of Beverly Hills (192) and La Canada (174.5). Davidson seemed to be enjoying the win and finally satisfied with the results. On the result he said “I think we are the most underrated team in the area, we have some really solid guys in our room. I knew that we would do well, but for us to put up as many points as we did, I was very pleased.” The Simi Valley team had three of their wrestlers taking individual championships. Senior Nico Hannessian, who was a state qualifier last year, swept the 182-pound title with just a first-period pin of Rim of the World’s Jefferson Piatt. He is ranked 16th in the state by The California Wrestling. They also witnessed a glimpse of the future wrestlers when sophomore Isaac Baruth pinned down Isaiah Santos in the first period of the 145 final. Denver Holt won at 120 with a first-period pin of Niko Ibanez of Chino Hills in the final. Other Simi Valley wrestlers that placed included Patinya Khamerchei (third at 106), Ryan Prendeville (second at 113), Trevor Holguin (seventh at 126), Zander Kim (third at 132), Amin Jabalameli (second at 138), Nate Garcia (third at 152), Elaban Connor (second at 160), Jakob Centeno (fifth at 170) and Nick Soloki (second at 195).
