Simona Halep Beat Venus Williams

The Romanian professional Tennis Player Simona Halep is currently World No 1 on the WTA tour. She achieved this rank on October 2017.
Simona was born in Constanta on 27th September 1991 two years after the Romanian revolution. She started playing tennis when she was just 4 years old. By the time she was 6 she was practicing daily. When she turned 16 she moved to Bucharest to further train for her career in sports. She started playing in junior competitions in the year 2008. She reached the finals in Notting Hill only to lose to Arantxa Rus. She defeated Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova in the quarter finals of Australian Open Junior Championships, but once again lost the semifinals to Jessica Moore.
In 2014 WTA finals she had lost to Serena Williams in straight set. Her winning streak continued throughout the 2015 and 2016 seasons.
Halep also happens to be darling of ace cameramen and was the most clicked player on the WTATennis.com for two consecutive years. She was awarded the WTA Most Popular Player of the year Prize 2017. She is also the seventh player to reach World's number 1 without winning a Grand Slam tournament.
Simona Halep defeated Venus Williams 6-2, 6-2 on the 10th of August 2018 at the Rogers cup that paved her way to the quarter Finals. She has to work her way out a 7-6, 4-6, 7-5 to win over russian Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova earlier the same day.
