Sreesanth Challenges Life Ban to Play in Scotland
Editorials News | Mar-08-2017
Indian cricketer S Sreesanth has challenged the life ban imposed on him by the BCCI in the Kerala High Court. He filed a plea to be allowed to play for Glenrothes Team (Premier League in Scotland) in April. The court, on Friday, directed the BCCI and the Union government to file their counter affidavits.
Sreesanth, along with 35 other accused in the IPL 6 match-fixing case, was discharged by the Patiala House Court in July 2015.
In his plea to the Kerala High Court, Sreesanth had mentioned that the trial court that heard the case found “no prima facie case in any offence, including Section 3 of MCOCA, is made out against the accused persons and they are entitled to be discharged.”
The BCCI has said no to change its disciplinary decision even after the verdict.
Sreesanth has alleged that the case has been framed out by the Delhi Police Special Cell. He has accused the Delhi Police to have “cooked-up story created according to their aspirations and imaginations”. According to him, the BCCI has made its reports based solely on these faulty enquiries by the Delhi Police.
Sreesanth wishes to participate in the match in Fife Scotland. That is why he is seeking an NOC from the BCCI.
