Editorials News | Apr-16-2019
The students of Kendriya Vidyalaya, Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya and the Territory of the Union of Chandigarh will participate in the Program for the International Student Assessment (PISA) 2021. This will be the first time that Indian students will participate in PISA.
The Program for the Evaluation of International Students is an international triennial survey that aims to evaluate educational systems throughout the world by testing the skills and knowledge of 15-year-old students who are about to complete their compulsory education. The field test for PISA will be conducted in 2020, while the main survey will be conducted in 2021. In order to prepare students and teachers, CBSE requested Kendriya Vidyalayas, Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya and schools in Chandigarh to send details of teachers all students born between February 2004 and January 31, 2006. Registration must be completed by April 22, 2019.
The Central Board of Secondary Education in recent weeks has introduced many changes in the terms of the assessment methods, the curriculum and the new subjects. According to the circular published by the CBSE, the CBSE said that the Ministry of Human Resources Development (MHRD) decided to participate in PISA in 2021, so it is imperative to introduce changes in the evaluation methods.
According to the circular published on March 6, 2019, the "Report card of the National Assessment Survey (2017-2018) indicates that the performance of CBSE students in class X in mathematics, science, social sciences, English and modern Indian language is 52%, 51%, 53%, 58% and 62% respectively. Although this competition-based survey places CBSE students above the national average, it indicates that there is ample scope to improve their performance. " The CBSE is also configured to incorporate new changes in the Assessment and Examination Practices. The circular says: "On this basis, some changes are proposed in the evaluation and examination practices for the year 2019-20 onwards".
Details of the changes are available on the CBSE website.
