Supposed Increase In Membership Fee Is Denied By CBSE

In response to allegations made by the Kerala School Management Association CBSE, the Central Board of Secondary Education said: The allegations are completely unfounded because the Board has not increased the membership fee to 10 lakh.

The prescribed fee for the online affiliation process is established in the affiliation statutes. Each school wishing to obtain CBSE membership must apply online within the "prescribed time period", and after complying with the mandatory conditions and payment of the prescribed fee, the affiliation for the applied session is granted as prescribed in CBSE affiliation statutes.

The Board has issued a new circular dated 01.04.2019, which is addressed to a different type of case. It has been noted that the Board still encounters some cases each year, where schools forget to apply within the prescribed time period or the next academic session, but they want the process to be expedited so that they become affiliated in the previous academic period session. Basically, they request membership late and expect the Board to advance the decision. Such cases are considered aberrations by the Board. However, considering the future of students admitted to schools that lose the opportunity to apply online within the stipulated period, the provisions of the Affiliation A DEMAND rate were introduced in 2018.

It is clarified that the application A DEMAND is not mandatory for any school to request it. For those schools that apply on time, or in advance and according to the requirement, this condition does not apply.
