Editorials News | Aug-18-2019
Cricket is such a profession that is extended to a very small tenure. In such case if a batsman gets suspended its not a pleasant feeling for him/her and also for his/her fans. One can witness one such case with Mohammad Shahzad who is an Afghani cricketer, and plays cricket primarily as a wicketkeeper and opening batsman. He represents Afghanistan in International cricket ground.
Code of conduct plays a vital role in every organization and especially when it comes to sports and cricket. Opening batsman Mohammad Shahzad has been now suspended from playing all forms of cricket for a long period of 12 months. And the reason for this was breaching Afghanistan Cricket Board's code of conduct.
According to news, in an official statement, the ACB stated that Shahzad violated ACB's disciplinary rules and regulations previously as well as he has not adhered to ACB's code of conduct for players. It also stated that he travelled out of the country several times which in turn violated ACB's policy for players as he did not seek its permission before doing so.
The statement also added that ACB has well-equipped training and practice facilities which are present within the country. It further informed the audience that Afghan players do not require to travel abroad for such purposes. It has been several months since Shahzad has been at loggerheads with the board.
After the whole happening, he was sent home midway through the World Cup due to his injury and fitness issues. Sources also stated that upon returning home, Shahzad cried foul and also put out a video on his social media channels saying that he was completely fit to play but still he was sent back home by the board due to these reasons. However, this claim was later refuted by ACB CEO Asadullah Khan.
