Team India Roster for Second Window of the FIBA World Cup Qualifiers Announced

The FIBA Basketball World Cup, also known as the FIBA World Cup of Basketball is an international basketball competition contested by the men's national teams of the members of the International Basketball Federation (FIBA), the sport's global governing body. The preparations for the FIBA World Cup Asian Qualifiers window-2 are presently going on.

The details of FIBA events for the upcoming matches are as follows: In the first round of Asian Qualifiers, India has drawn in Group C with Syria, Lebanon, and Jordan. India lost the first two qualifying games against Lebanon by 72-107. On November 26, 2017, India lost a match against Syria by 57-74. Further India met Jordan on Feb 23, 2018, and faces Lebanon on February 26, 2018. Each of these matches were played at the Sri Kanteerava Indoor Stadium in Bengaluru. The first round fixtures shall come to an end when India shall play against Syria on June 28, 2018 and meet Jordan on July 1, 2018. So far India has lost both the matches. Lebanon and Syria have both lost and won one match each. Keeping in mind the excitement and craze in the audiences for the game of basketball, the authorities have decided to allow free entry to the matches. In order to reach the second round, India will have to finish at top three of their group. The second round is expected to be held between February- September 2018. Post two days long selection procedure, the final roster of 12 players for the World Cup qualifiers has been announced. The team shall include the following players- Ravi Bhardwaj; Arvind Arumugam; Satnam Singh; Arshpreet Singh Bhullar; A Aravind; P Akilan; J Justin; P Jeevanantham; Yadwinder Singh; Joginder Singh; Amritpal Singh; Amjyot Singh.
