The Extra- Ordinary Journey of Jhulan Nishit Goswami

Jhulan Nishit Goswami was born on 25 November 1982 in Nadia, West Bengal to a middle class family. At a tender age of 15, she took up cricket.

She is an all-round cricketer known for both her batting and bowling (right arm medium) abilities. She plays for the India national women's cricket team, Bengal Women, East Zone Women as well as the Asia Women XI women's cricket. She is the reason for India’s first test series win in England. Jhulan is the highest wicket taker in the Women’s ODI cricket. She backed the ICC Women's Player of the Year 2007 award and the M.A. Chidambaram trophy for Best Women Cricketer in 2011. She became the captain of the women’s team on February 1, 2009 to guide the team for the world cup. Presently, she has been succeeded by Mitali Raj. Jhulan has also taken the place of Cathryn Fitzpatrick, after her retirement, to become the fastest playing bowler in world women cricket. Jhulan has also been honoured with the Arjuna Award in 2010 and the Padma Shri in 2012. To enlighten the world about Jhulan’s extra- ordinary journey, a biopic titled as “Chakdaha Express” is also in the making.
