The Fantasy Basketball Positional Tiers Series is Out

As the start of NBA preseason is approaching, Alex Barutha has come up with the break-up of the players into tiers for Fantasy. The NBA training camps shall open in a matter of weeks. The players are tiered as follows:

Tier 1: The Elite

Anthony Davis, Pelicans

Karl-Anthony Towns, Timberwolves

Nikola Jokic, Nuggets

These three players are absolutely flawless and deserve to be selected in the first round of selection itself in most formats. Davis is one with such overall scoring and defense that makes him one of the best two-way players in the league. He has yet again become one of the favourites to win the MVP award. Towns, has 87 20-point, 10-rebound games over the past two years. Jokic is one of the best passing big men the league has ever seen so far and dropped 10 triple-doubles last season.

Tier 2: The Near-Elite

Joel Embiid, 76ers

Rudy Gobert, Jazz

These players are very close to the ones in tier 1 but have few flaws that keeps them just a step behind those put under Table 1. If one goes by the talent, Embiid is the closest to joining Tier 1. Gobert has established himself as a premier shot-blocker (2.5 BPG), rebounder (11.9 RPG), and efficient scorer (64.5 FG%) at the position.

Tier 3: Fringe All-Stars

Clint Capela, Rockets

Marc Gasol, Grizzlies

Andre Drummond, Pistons

Al Horford, Celtics

Myles Turner, Pacers

These players tabled under Tier 3 are those who are the focal points of their teams but do possess a big enough flaw to keep them away from being perennial All stars.

Tier 4: Low-Ceiling Starters

Jarrett Allen, Nets

Nikola Vucevic, Magic

Dwight Howard, Wizards

Jonas Valanciunas, Raptors

DeAndre Jordan, Mavericks

Brook Lopez, Bucks

DeMarcus Cousins, Warriors

The players tabled under Tier 4 should net you minutes in the mid-to-high 20s every night and/or have one very strong skill.

Tier 5: The Rest

Dewayne Dedmon, Hawks

JaVale McGee, Lakers

Steven Adams, Thunder

Enes Kanter, Knicks

Jordan Bell, Warriors

Deandre Ayton, Suns

These players have been tabled at Tier 5 because they possess the maximum number of flaws.
