The French Weight Lifter Breaks His Left Arm In Two Places

A French weightlifter has broken his left arm in two places in the European Lighting Championships. You probably guessed it but consider this as a warning for some very curly images.

Gaelle Nayo Ketchanke, 31, was trying to lift 110 kg, her personal best, in the 76 kg women's category at the event in Batumi, Georgia.

She had not managed to complete the uprising before, but on her third attempt, while she managed to place the bar above her head, her left arm buckled and gave way under the immense weight.

The French team at the event confirmed that Nayo Ketchanke's left arm had been broken in two places during the incident.

According to unconfirmed reports, she also suffered a dislocated elbow.

They took her to the hospital for immediate surgery.

The event was broadcast live by the European Weightlifting Federation, but when Nayo Ketchanke's arm adjusted the power cut to a different camera to focus on his team. However, you could still hear her screaming in pain in the distance.

Surprisingly, she still left with a bronze medal for her 103 kg first game.

The weightlifter has taken Instagram with an update on what happened, sharing a smiling photo showing his left arm in a cast.

Translated roughly from French, he wrote: "I am coming out of these European Championships in the best way, with a 107kg elbow injury after winning the bronze medal in 103kg.

"I received many messages of support that made me feel good and we are waiting for my return to France to carry out more tests.

"I want to thank the medical and technical staff of the Federation who responded very quickly and who is by my side, my coaches and my team colleagues from France, I will return to you to receive news."

The fans have wished Nayo Ketchanke a good recovery, while also congratulating her for her bronze medal.

One commented on Instagram: "Get well, champion."

Another wrote: "A true warrior! Beautiful medal and beautiful smile."

Someone else said: "Wishing you a speedy recovery. Congratulations on the bronze."

A fourth added: "Love your attitude, stay strong."

Get well soon, Gaelle!
