
The Grand Opening of Khelo India School Games

Khelo India is the dream project of Prime Minister Mr. NarendraModi. It is an initiative taken by Government of India for development of sports in India, at all levels as a national programme. The games have started from January 31 and it will continue till February 8, 2018.
Prime Minister NarendraModi inaugurated the opening ceremony of that. On the opening day of the Khelo India School Games at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium J. Coleshiya of Tamil Nadu defeated Kerala’s Sandra Babu and achieved the gold medal. Sandra finished second with a jump of 12.27m in her second attempt. At first this mark was equalled by Coleshiya and then she overtook it by two centimeters to claim the gold. In the boys’ section of the event C. Praveen who is also from Kerala, won the game with a clear jump of 15.22 meters. SachinGujjar from Uttar Pradesh got the second place. Praveen performed better than Sachin in all his attempts. Anu Kumar of Uttarakhand became the first gold medalist of Khelo India, by winning the boys 1500m race in four minutes, 4.77 seconds. In a setback Gujarat’s KarthiriyaShraddha was initially named the winner in the girls’ section but was later declared to have participated as a pacer. Therefore she did not qualify for the winner’s spot. After that Kerala’s Chantini C was declared as the winner. With that, the games have started and it is expected to witness amazing sport in its true spirit in coming days.
