The latest positioning system launched by Japan

There was a margin error of about 10 meters in global positioning by the GPS owned by the US. The margin will be reduced to between 1 meter and about 6 cm through the mutual coordination between the GPS and Michibiki.

Japan recently launched their fourth and the final satellite that build up its terrestrial positioning network system. The new launch will pave path to improve the current GPS services and help create a better communications system during a disaster. Japanese H-IIA rocket with the Michibiki – 4 communication satellite was launched by the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries. The event occurred from the space centre on Tanegashima Island, Kagoshima prefecture at 7:01 A.M.

JAXA said in a statement that the launch and flight of the rocket “went as per the plan”. Even the satellite separation took place at confirmed 28 minutes and 21 seconds after the launch time.
