“The Only Person To Win Both The Oscar And The Nobel Prize”

To recognize excellence in a certain field of work, awards and prizes are given. In the form of trophies, titles, certificates, medals, badges or ribbons and many of the awards also carry a monetary prize are given. Hundreds of awards are given to honor and recognize people and their work in various spheres of life, worldwide,
To spread amazement, Nobel Prize is awarded to that person who excels in physics, chemistry, physiology or medicine, literature, and peace, given title as “greatest benefit on mankind”.
On the other hand, Oscar concedes all the efforts that go into filmmaking, in the most marvelous manner. George Berner Shaw is the only person to win both the awards.
In 1925, he was honored with the “Nobel Prize in Literature”. He was an Irish playwright, critic, polemicist (a person who engages in controversial debate) and political activist. More than 60 plays were written by him.
He received an Academy Award as he had provided the screenplay for a filmed version of Pygmalion for which, in 1938.
In 1939, he was awarded with the “Oscar”, for the best writing Screenplay, Pygmalion.
He had become a respected theatre and music critic, by the mid-1880s. He joined the gradualist Fabian Society, by following a political awakening and became its most prominent pamphleteer.
He sought to initiate a new realism into English-language drama, using his plays as vehicles to circulate his political, social and religious ideas, and he was influenced by Henrik Ibsen. His reputation as a dramatist was secured with a series of critical and popular successes that included Major Barbara, The Doctor's Dilemma and Caesar and Cleopatra, by the early twentieth century.
Eugenics and alphabet reform were promoted by him, and vaccination and organized religion were opposed by him. He courted unpopularity by denouncing both sides in the First World War as equally culpable, and although not a republican.
Among British dramatists, he has regularly been rated as second only to Shakespeare. His extensive influence on generations of English-language playwrights, were recognized by the analyst. Shaw's ideas had added up the word “Shavian” in the language, means expressing them.
Unfortunately, due to the failure of kidney he died on 2nd November 1950.
