The Spanish Culture of Parenting
Editorials News | Jan-31-2018
Parenting is a process of raising and supporting your kid physically, emotionally and socially. Right from storytelling to giving cultural values is a crucial part of parenting. Ways of parenting may differ from place to place and country to country.
In Spanish culture, baby girls are adorned with ear studs before they even leave the hospital. It is a gender identifier for the baby girls in Spain and those parents who choose not go for it. They have to struggle to make people know the true gender of their baby. Spanish parents do not have a culture of babies going to bed early. In fact their babies stay awake till late night chilling with their young friends or going to a party or dinner with their parents. Spanish celebrate ‘Sunday Best’ where they take their children out for a lunch in a restaurant or for a walk in a park in corduroy knickerbockers, sailor suits and pinafores in outfits that wouldn't have looked out of place in Edwardian times. These kids are allowed to play with fireworks. Unlike in UK, where children are never seen setting up the fireworks any reason, in Spain it is not unusual to see children playing with fireworks and rockets. In school summer holidays, Spanish children are frequently seen to be looked after by grandparents or enjoying summer camps. Strange but true that Spain babies are generally seen obsessed with baby perfumes. These facts make Spain babies and Spanish parenting different from others.
