Editorials News | Jan-20-2019
It is rightly said that every child is special. Every child has his own personality, talent, interests etc. Often parents are impatient and are unable to identify the true talent of their child. Some children are slightly more special and blessed. They have an inborn talent. On such very special child is Kenisha.
Kenisha was an extremely restless child since birth. Kenisha who is the daughter of Dr. Vishal Gupta and Ms. Pradeepti is a very talented child. When her parents took her to a nearby swimming pool in Mumba, expecting her to win medals was the last thing that they were expecting from her. Their only intention behind taking her for swimming was to make her swim so that she could get tired and then come back home and sleep peacefully in the night. Almost 10 years later, it proved to be the best decision of their lives. Kenisha has recently finished her Khelo India Youth Games campaign and has won 3 gold medals. Kenisha’s mother stated that Kenisha was only one year old when they had shifted to London. Kenisha was a restless child since childhood. She used to wake up at 1am or 2am in the night and they didn’t sleep at all. Even during the day, she slept for 2-3 hours. Later around after 3 years, when the couple shifted to Mumbai, they decided to take her to a nearby swimming pool. They allowed her to play in the water. To their surprise, Kenisha slept peacefully that night without getting up like before. They then made the decision of admitting her into a swimming academy so that she could swim regularly and then go off to sleep peacefully. Presently, Kenisha is 15 years old and has become a swimming star. She has won around 8 medals at the Senior national championships in Kerela in the last year itself in various events such as 100m butterfly, 200m individual medley, 100 m freestyle events at the Khelo India Youth games organised at Shiv Chhatrapati sports complex in Balewadi. Kenisha stated that she is a totally different personality when she is in water. She feels extremely peaceful and calm while swimming. She truly believes that she’s a gifted child and a water baby. Kenisha presently trains at Nihar Amin’s Dolphin Aquatics under the guidance of two coaches: Shri Sandeep Sejwal and Shri Vinod Nair.
