The Mahesh Bhupathi-promoted International Premier Tennis League 2016’s third leg and finals to be held in Hyderabad, with the IPTL India franchise Indian Aces shifting its base to Hyderabad from New Delhi. Some of the world renowned tennis players would be attending it, said Bhupathi.
He told the reporters “"But, it was a very recent decision. I was fortunate enough to come and meet the minister (Telangana IT Minister KT Rama Rao). In 48 hours, we got all the support we needed and, with infrastructure as well, to be able to host (the event) here".
He also stated that all the four IPL teams would play on December 9 and 10 at the Gachibowli stadium, followed on December 11 by the IPTL finals. Before closing up in Hyderabad the first two legs will be hosted in Tokyo and Singapore. The matches will be held in the indoor stadium as per the same format (round robin) of the last year’s event held in Singapore
Rama Rao said that he invited Bhupathi to hold the event in Hyderabad, and that full support will be provided for it from the Telangana government.
