Sachin Tendulkar has finished his international career with almost 100 centuries and out of these marvellous hundreds, 49 came in One-day Internationals (ODIs). While every century which the great Sachin Tendulkar scored in his lifetime was special in some or the another way, the one factor that stands out the most for him and also for his fans is the maiden century which is in the 50-over format.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has recently posted a video of Sachin Tendulkar's maiden ODI century which the player scored on September 9, 1994 which is exactly 25 years ago and was secured against Australia in Colombo. On this Day in 1994 – great batsman Sachin Tendulkar scored his first ODI hundred. BCCI has tweeted all this with a message that reads relive the magic - DD SPORTS.
What made this hundred more special is that it took the player, Sachin Tendulkar close to five years to achieve his three-figure mark in the format, while making his ODI debut in December 1989 against our country’s arch-rivals Pakistan.
The reason why it took the player so long to achieve this lies in the number at which he used to bat in his initial part of the career. Sachin maiden century in ODIs came opening for the innings for India and after this he has cemented his place in the side of the team as an opener.
As soon as the BCCI organization posted the video, people turned nostalgic and they started sharing their experiences. While some of them termed it as the stepping stone for future star, there were others who shared how old they were when Sachin had scored the century.
The player is considered as the God of Cricket and why not as his numbers astounds everyone and inspires young bloods more and more.
