Unbelievable- IAS Topper who scored 171/170 Marks

Ankur Garg is an IIT-Delhi graduate. He had dreamt of becoming an IAS officer always. When children think of games and plays, Ankur Garg had made up his mind about his career. During a press meet, he stated that he always wanted to become an IAS Officer since when he was in Class 3. Even during his college tenure, he was very determined and always dreamt of Civil Services as his career and nothing else. He chose to study Engineering because he believed that Engineering was the only course that would help him to achieve his dream of becoming as IAS Officer.  

He believed that while pursuing IIT, not only he would be able to grow professionally and personally but he would also start thinking unconventionally. He had also given an interview to the Hindustan Times where he mentioned that, “Engineering was only a stepping stone to achieving that goal.” UPSC CSE is considered as the most difficult examination to crack and becoming an IAS Officer is even tougher. Being selected in any of the services which admits through civil services examination conducted by UPSC is not easy and needs a lot of hard work with dedication and determination. Ankur Garg, at a very young age of 22, had scored very well in his UPSC exams. In fact he cracked the UPSC and came out as a topper. Jeffrey Frankel, who is a renowned international macroeconomist, validated this extremely well result and also signed on his report card, confirming that Ankur has really topped the exam and scored one mark above the total marks. Macroeconomics course is considered as a part of the two-year Masters programme in Public Administration in International Development. Ankur has been pursuing Macroeconomics course at Harvard University and scored 171 out of 170 marks in the final Macroeconomics exam of the macroeconomics course which has been recognised and he has been awarded for the same. Jeffrey Frankel has also written a post on his Facebook stating that “When I was in school, my father used to say—10 out of 10 isn’t good enough in any exam. Always strive for 11 out of 10. I hardly understood how that’s done. In the last phase of the student life, I end up getting this score (171 out of 170) in the final exam of the macroeconomics course. The icing on the cake is that it comes at Harvard and is signed by Jeffrey Frankel. During his tenure as a civil servant, Ankur Garg has been keen to start a campaign against open defecation. In addition to this, he is also an office bearer of the Central IAS Officers’ Association and has been working hard to make sure that all the initiatives that are taken by IAS officers are not deterred by the government in any which ways.
