Unmatched Personality: Vikram Seth

India is filled with human gems. There are so many personalities here who are recognized globally. Vikram Seth is one of them. Vikram Seth was born in Calcutta in 1952. He belonged to a very literate family where his father, Prem Nath Seth, was an executive of Liberty Shoes and his mother, Mrs. Leila Seth, was a barrister, and later on she became the first female Chief Justice of the Delhi High Court.

Vikram Seth has all the qualifications in the field of various subjects such as: Philosophy, Politics and Economics from Oxford University. He is the author of 6 books of poetry and 3 novels since 1980. His most renowned novel is "A suitable boy" that won the W.H. Smith prize in 1993. Vikram was awarded with one of Britain top honours for his continuous services to literature.  On 14 February 2001, he was awarded the “Commander of the order3 of the British Empire” that was announced by none other than Queen Elizabeth II.

He has also been awarded Padma Shri, Sahitya Akademi Award, Pravasi Bharatiya Samman, WH Smith Literary Award and Crossword Book Award. Among Seth's collections of poetry such as Mappings and Beastly Tales are the remarkable contributions to the Indian English language poetry. The latest novel written by Vikram Seth is 'An Equal Music' that is all about the troubled love life story of a violinist. His readers are eagerly waiting to read the novel.
