
UP Announces Khelo India Camps for Development of Sports

Uttar Pradesh has announced 246 athletes in 13 disciplines will compete and train in various coaching camps. UP is preparing with vigor for the inaugural of its Khelo India School games that will be held from 31st of January. Dr. AvadhNaresh Sharma who is the Uttar Pradesh director of the Secondary Education revealed that the athletes will be put in camps at their own paces before the games are held. Here is how the teams will train in various cities:
- Lucknow: Hockey Teams (Boys and Girls) and Swimming Squad
- Faizabad: Volleyball (Boys and Girls), Kabaddi (Boys) and Badminton Players
- Saharanpur: Judo Squad
- Agra: Gymnastics Team
- Meerut: Camps for wrestling, athletics, shooting, archery and weightlifting.
Some of the participants such as VaseemTomar of Dr. Ambedkar Public Junior High School, Saharanpur; 14 year old National Junior high jump champion KhyatiMathur from Modern Public School in Meerut, middle distance runner UttamYadav and shot putter Anshika Pal along with sprinter Rahul Sharma will lead the charge for medals. The state of UP whose football, basketball and khokho teams have not yet qualified for the games has determined to give its best in all the 13 disciplines of the camps. Here is a background backup:
