Veda Krishnamurthy: A Woman Cricket Player

Veda Krishnamurthy is a 26-year-old well repudiated Indian batsman part of the Women’s cricket team. Veda in her initial days started her journey for the Karnataka state by playing in the Women’s cricket team. The woman batsman had made her debut for Indian team in the year 2011.
She along with her batting is popular for her brilliant fielding and is deployed at the patrolling of the boundaries. Veda is also known for the big hitting shots for the team. However, she is also very quick between the wickets and thus she engages her speed in between the wickets for getting ones and twos quickly for her team. Veda had a simple childhood yet very challenging. She credits for her growth to the support and encouragement from the family. When she was in school, she was motivated to attend the karate classes in a routine manner to which she detested. Whereas, after sometime with the motivation by her parents she continued it and further earned a double black belt at the very small age of 12. Her practice on the karate mats helped her to become more tough and agile at a very age. She liked cricked more than martial arts and at times bunked her class to play cricket with friends. Her parents noticed her desires and talent in the cricket and they took her to Karnataka Institute of Cricket, and academy run by Irfan Sait at Bangalore. Irfan at the first instance asked her to bat in the nets and then they witnessed her smashing the ball all around. She first played for the Karnataka senior women’s team at an early age of 14 for which she became their USP as her Athleticism talent and tactics. Thereafter as she progressed more, she was promoted to be the vice-captain of the Karnataka state team by the age of 17. She made her debut in International cricket as a part of Indian team in the year 2011, when she was just 18. As the achievements came in very small time, sudden transition which was around her was mishandled. The grievous mental pressure when she played the talented international bowlers had made her felt low. Thus she dropped out of the Indian Women’s team just a year later, she had just scored a half century in her 22 innings. According to her the reason of her failure was her immaturity that she showed to handle charm of playing in International format for India.
