Vinesh Phogat Confident To Win India's Debut Gold At Asian Games 2018

Vinesh Phogat won a bronze at last Asian Games in 2014 but says that her experience and confidence are more build up this time around which might help her win gold at the event. Vinesh lost in the semi-final round last time after losing to Japan's Eri Tosaka. The grappler believes that she has a much better understanding of both the sport and her opponents than when she was just 20. She said that she doesn't want to restrict herself to bronze medal this year. Vinesh is part of the notable Phogat family from Haryana. She said that her confidence has escalated after winning a consecutive gold medal at Commonwealth Games earlier in April.

Vinesh has achieved wins over Jessica MacDonald to win gold in women's 50 kg freestyle event to win her second gold at CWG and Yana Rattigan from England at Glasgow while competing in 48 kg category. She said that Asian games have its own challenges as there are a number of Olympic medallists participating in Asian games. She also emphasized that all opponents should be given equal respect.

23-year old also voiced out her opinions on the pressure sportspeople face while competing. There are a lot of expectations from fans that can help boost confidence but there is also a negativity around when they fail. But she is confident enough to clinch gold at the upcoming event.
