Virat Kohli To Play For Vijay Hazare Trophy 2019-2020

Vijay Samuel Hazare born on 11th March, 1915 was an exemplary Indian Cricketer who led the Indian team to its first ever Test Cricket wins against England at Madras. It was India's 25th Test match, since India achieved Test status approximately 20 years back. Vijay Hazare also captained India in 14 matches from 1951 to 1953.

Vijay Hazare was a right-hand batsman and a right medium pace bowler. He scored 60 first class centuries which include 7 in Test matches and his first class record is an impressive one with a batting average of 58:38 for his 18740 runs which also happens to be highest first class aggregate for an Indian cricketer after Sunil Gavaskar, Sachin Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid. Vijay Hazare also has 10 first- class double centuries to his name, six of which were during the World War II. During that period India was the only Test cricket playing country which continued to play domestic first class cricket without any interruption.
After his retirement he for a short period was an Indian Test Cricket selector. He passed away in the year 2004 due to prolonged illness caused by intestinal cancer. For his contribution to early Indian cricket and many firsts during his stint as a cricketer he was honored with a trophy in his name, "the Vijay Hazare Trophy".
The Vijay Hazare trophy is also more famously known as the Ranji One-Day Trophy which was introduced in 2002-2003 as a limited-over domestic cricket competition that involves multiple teams who represent the regional and state cricket associations. As of now the competition consists of 37 teams, with all the 29 states of India and two if the seven Union Territories having at least one representation.
The 2019-20 will be the 86th season of Ranji trophy cricket tournament. The tentative schedule for this year is between December 2019 and March 2020. Team Vidarbha are the present defending champions.
Ranji Trophy was and will be one of the main breeding ground for India's future cricketing starts. However, over the years due to absence of International stars for the fours day Ranji Matches fails to draw the crowds. International stars like Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul, Dravid, Anil Kumble, and Virendra Sehwag always made a point to play for their respective states.
This time over the Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) has named India's skipper Virat Kohli one amongst the 50 member probable’s that they have thought about for the Delhi's squad in the forthcoming Vijay Hazare Trophy. Other players included in the list are Ishaant Sharma, Shikar Dhawan, and Rishabh Pant amongst others. All players in the probable list have been requested to report to Feroz Shah Kotla stadium by 8 in the morning on Tuesday.
