Water Scarcity And Booming Technologies To Cater It

Stumbling across the diversity of our country, we can witness that with a diverse population that is almost three times the size of the United States, India has the second-largest population in the world. Although our country has made several improvements still the issue of water scarcity can be felt in many places most of which are rural areas. According to reports water scarcity in India is expected to worsen by 20% by the year 2050. Another report showcases that children in 100 million homes in our country lack water, and one child out of every two children are malnourished.
A large population has been stressed out due to unplanned water resources and a rapid increase in water scarcity. The current scenario suggests many reports that tell the rapid growth in India's urban areas which has stretched government solutions, compromised by over-privatization. Also, one of the major concerns is while gazing about the long term availability of water resources as our country is one of the world’s majority grain producers that in turn require water for supporting the commodity.
There is an array of challenges that come across while taking any steps that can prevent water scarcity. Bio and chemical pollutants are one such factor that leads to contamination of water sources. It may not shock us to know that over 21% of all the nation’s diseases are waterborne. Another biggest challenge that hinders the process of eradicating water scarcity is decreasing groundwater level and improper precipitation in many areas of the country. However, we can say that our country’s water crisis is often attributed to inadequate government planning and government corruption.
These data and challenges are sure to lead us into pressure but still, there are chances of hope left. Solutions like rainwater harvesting at the water blessed areas of India and further using that collected water for agriculture and other necessities, improvement in water infrastructure, recycling of wastewater, pollution control & better sewage treatment and at last persuaded the crowd about its awareness and proper education are some of the basic solutions.
With all these negatives come positives too as the arrival of some of the technologies that are into water recycling, conservation and preservation technologies have been there. Here are 3 technologies that are for the same.
• Graphene Filter that Makes it Cheaper to Drink Seawater
Although we know that nearly seventy-five percent of our Earth is covered with water, it is also known that most of it is undrinkable. This technology will help to convert this undrinkable water into drinkable one that too at a cheap cost and hence will help in reducing water scarcity.
• IoT Technology for Conserving Water
IoT and its ultimate use of sensors are helping to reduce water consumption.
• Drones Aiding Water Preservation
Drones also help in keeping an eye on areas that are often too expensive or problematic to access.
There are many other technologies that are currently being worked upon keeping in mind the current scenario, challenges, and solutions for the prevention of the further downfall of water scarcity in our nation.
