What Steps Did Indore Took in Order to Become India’s Cleanest City?
Editorials News | Nov-07-2020
The city of Indore, located in the state of Madhya Pradesh, India was given the title of the cleanest city of India for the fourth consecutive year. Now the question arises that what steps did Indore took to become the cleanest city of India? First, let’s have a look at the steps taken by the administrations.
One of the most effective steps which Indore's administrative departments took was ‘night cleaning'. Usually in all place’s workers are hired to clean and pick up garbage during the day time but in Indore, a separate set of workers were hired to clean during the evening as well. This step had mainly two benefits; the city got more clean than usual and unemployment was also decreased.
In Indore, garbage bins were removed as they caused dirty surroundings because of the stray animals which used to search food in the bins. Instead, municipal workers were asked to go door to door and collect the garbage.
Just the steps taken by the administrations are not of any use until people give their contribution and support these steps. The people living in Indore followed certain steps for maintaining cleanliness. So now let’s know our duties as citizens to contribute in maintaining cleanliness.
1. People started keeping a dustbin in their vehicles while travelling so that they don’t have to unnecessarily make their surroundings dirty.
2. We all love community events and socializing. But who is responsible for the litter created? Of course, we are! In Indore people together made an effort to do the cleaning work after every event.
3. In this city, people started following an eight pledge during wedding ceremonies. This pledge was an oath to cleanliness and also dustbins were given to the wedding guests to support and promote this drive.
Just like Indore, every city has the potential to grab the title of the cleanest city. So, let's work together and achieve!
