With A View To Olympics 2020, The Wrestling Federation of India Seeks To Strengthen The Support Staff

The Wrestling Federation of India on Thursday invited applications for multiple positions, including mental conditioning trainers, physiotherapists and nutritionists, to reinforce preparations for the 2020 Olympic Games.

The WFI has decided to hire support personnel in the three categories of freestyle men, Greco-Roman and the women's team.

"The WFI has invited applicants to physio positions, nutritionists / dieticians, massage therapists and mental conditioning trainers in all three categories. The WFI will also hire a professional manager for the national team, "the national wrestling agency said in a statement.

WFI already offers annual contracts to its leading wrestlers in all age categories, including stipends for select junior athletes.

Speaking about the hiring of professionals, WFI President Brijbhushan Sharan Singh said: "These recruitments are designed to prepare players with a focus on the Tokyo Games 2020. These trained hands will work closely with the players in the preparatory camps. Olympic Games before the Tokyo Games. "

"An experienced physiotherapist, a biomechanics trainer, a mental conditioning trainer and a nutritionist will accompany the fighters supported on exhibition trips abroad, ensuring world class preparations for each of the fighters in India."

Sakshi Malik, bronze winner at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, is optimistic about WFI's plans.

"The new coaches who are already working with the team and now the news of the incorporation of professional support staff is a very important movement," he said.

"This was a very necessary aspect of development and continuing education. I am happy that your presence helps us and helps us recover faster and train us in more scientific ways, "he added.

The wrestling contingent already has foreign coaches.

Hossein Karimi from Iran is working with the freestyle team, Andrew Cook of EE. UU He is training the women's team and Temo Kazarashvili of Georgia is perfecting the skills of the Greco-Roman unit.

India has won a medal in wrestling in each of the last three Olympic Games and will be willing to maintain that race in Tokyo.
