WOMEN’S FRENCH OPEN EXPECTED TO BE THE MOST EXCITING EVER

WOMEN’S FRENCH OPEN EXPECTED TO BE THE MOST EXCITING EVER

Serena Williams- the Open era singles Grand Slam champion is on a maternity leave and therefore out of the French Open. Angelique Kerber- the World No. 1 is without a title and is an anemic 19-13. Maria Sharapova- the former No. 1 is nursing a bruised thigh.

Simona Halep has a torn ligament which leaves her with a 50/50 chance of playing in the French Open. The defending champion- Garbine Muguruza has a locked-up neck from the recent Rome semifinals.

The only deviation is No.3 Karolina Pliskova who is working to make a big leap from Grand Slam finalist to champion. But she too has failed to make it past the quarterfinals in any event.

All these may render an unfavorable look at the moment. However, WTA has lots of talented players, and the absence of some top players has created a historic, unique opportunity.

Anyone among Svetlana KuznetsovaVenus Williams and Samantha Stosur, Lucie SafarovaAgnieszka RadwanskaDominika Cibulkova, Caroline Wozniacki, Svitolina, Kristina Mladenovic , Jelena OstapenkoAna Konjuh and Daria Kasatkina can win it now. This very anticipation makes this Grand Slam tennis tournament exciting than ever before.
