World Cup T20 Preparations
Editorials News | Dec-06-2019
Indian cricket captain Virat Kohli has said only one seat has to be filled in the team's fast bowlers' list for the T20 World Cup in Australia next year. Kohli's statement indicates that fast bowlers Jasprit Bumrah, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Mohammad Shami are almost certain to be in the squad.
This competition is for one place and I think all three players have almost confirmed their place. Speaking about the many options in the fast bowling department, Kohli said, "It's good for me as a captain. It's not a big question for us to have so many fast bowlers in the team. I think Bhuvi (Bhubaneswar) and Jasprit Bumrah are the experienced players. T20 cricket has a lot of consistency in its performance. Deepak (Chahar) is also bowling well.
Full confidence in Rishabh Pant’s ability: Virat
Mohammad Shami is making a comeback and he is bowling well. If he can find the right tone and work on what he needs for T1 cricket, it will be very useful in places like Australia, especially with the ability to take wickets with a new ball. He has enough speed to drop the yorker. "With the
Return of Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Mohammed Shami in the T-2 format, the Indian fast bowling side has strengthened. Shami last played in T20 International. Bhubaneswar was recovering after recovering from a muscle injury. Bhubaneswar played its last T-2 international in the Caribbean against the West Indies in August this year. In the last home series against Bangladesh, Chahar, who has bowled brilliantly, has also strengthened his claim to join the team. Three fast bowlers who have made the handkerchief, some other players are also contenders. Kohli said the claims were correct as everyone was bowling well.
Two pink-ball test matches in two weeks across the globe seem to have reaffirmed faith that fans will still flock to the stadiums in good number for the longer format, but with those games out of the way, attention now shifts to the instant version of the game. The day-night Test against Bangladesh got over in three days, giving Virat Kohli and Co. extra downtime before they get down to business in the first of the 11 T20Is scheduled in the run-up to World T20 in Australia in October 2020.
