The renowned Indian cricket player and sportsperson 'Rahul Dravid' was accused of conflict interest by Sanjay Gupta who is the member of Madhya Pradesh Cricket Association's member. Dravid is currently the National Cricket Academy (NCA) head and he is also employed as the Vice president of India Cements Group.
Upon this the Committee of Administrators (CoA) member Diana Edulji has said recently that the conflict of interest rule will be followed 'as of now' and in this regard the amendments can now be made if the Supreme Court deems fit.
Edulji also told the reporters that the ethics officer has sent the complaint to him and he will further then take the call. He's a former judge of the Supreme Court and he will definitely abide by the rules book. He also admitted cricket is having a little difficulty in this conflict of interest rule and he thinks if the papers are put perfectly in the court everyone will understand.
Edulji, while talking to reporters after the conclusion of a meeting that was held between CoA and Indian cricketers over this conflict of interest rule said, "Good suggestions came up during the meeting. As of now, a conflict of interest rule has to be followed."
Irfan Pathan who is an Indian cricketer and was part of the meeting said that it is very common when cricketers put forth their concerns regarding this conflict of interest rule.
Pathan also told the all of them were asked for a suggestion as a player. He talked about both current and former players and kept in mind every scenario. He also mentioned that they all had an elaborate discussion and he is happy how the meeting was conducted.
The issue became a hot topic and came to light, former cricketer Sourav Ganguly also commented on this and said that conflict of interest has become a new fashion in Indian cricket. Harbhajan Singh agreed with what Ganguly said.
Earlier in 2017, the Supreme Court nominated a four-member panel CoA to look upon the administration of the BCCI so that Lodha Committee reforms can be successfully implemented.
