Editorials News | Mar-23-2020
As the coronavirus takes a firm grip over the world, countries are using lockdown as one of the primary quarantine strategies to control the spread of the virus.
The Coronavirus outbreak is deepening around the world very rapidly. The virus first appeared in China’s Wuhan province in December 2019 and has created pandemic taking a massive number of human lives. Countries are now trying their best to get control over this dangerous virus and are dealing to save the infected ones. In order to maintain a healthy environment, "LOCKDOWN" has been announced in several countries.
A lockdown can be said as an emergency protocol that the government or authorities implement that prevents people to leave from a certain area. A lockdown in a country or in a state means nobody or anything is allowed to enter or exit from that particular state or country.
Several countries have put themselves under a 14-hour long voluntary curfew and have announced a preventive lockdown in this critical situation to save people, organizations and systems from dangers, acting on Modi's appeal to "add tremendous strength to the fight" against the disease.
The nature of any lockdown depends on the situation by which the condition has occurred. A lockdown generally allows essential supplies, grocery stores, banks, etc. to serve the public. All non-essential activities will remain shut for the entire period. Emergency services, like hospitals and pharmacies, will continue to serve us as usual 24*7.
India, at the moment, is not under complete lockdown. As during the explanation of lockdown rules announced on March 22, 2020, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, "During this curfew, we shall neither leave our homes nor get onto the streets or roam about our localities. This is also the time to see and test how prepared India is for fighting off a global pandemic."
The central and several state governments have announced relief packages for daily-wage earners and other temporary workers and all private companies have granted work from home to all employees.
Also if anyone breaking the rules, should be punished with imprisonment for a specific time period that may extend up to one month or with a fine of Rs 200, or with both.
Note: There is no need to stock the essentials as such stores will remain open but stocks might be low, due to heavy restrictions in all means of transport.
