Muhammad Ali: Biography Of One Of The Greatest Boxers Of All Times

Muhammad Ali was born in January of 1942 in Kentucky. He was a professional American boxer and is regarded as the most significant sportsperson of all time. He became an amateur boxer at a tender age of 12 and won his gold medal at the light heavyweight division in Summer Olympics at the age of 18. At age 22, he won WBA, WBC and lineal heavyweight titles. He was the racial pride of African Americans. Muhammad Ali was born with the name of Cassius Clay but changed it and converted his religion to Islam.
In 1966, Ali refused to participate in the Vietnam War as he was opposed to it which antagonized the US government. He was arrested and stripped of the boxing titles. His conviction was overturned in 1971, which made him lose 4 years of his peak performance as an athlete. Ali has been constantly regarded as one of the greatest boxers and sports personalities of all time. He is the only boxer to remain a three-time lineal heavyweight champion. He has most wins in heavyweight title bouts and unified championship bouts. He was named as the greatest sportsperson of the 20th century by the Sports Illustrated. In 1981, Muhammad Ali retired from boxing at the age of 39. After retiring, he focused his time on religion and charity. In 1984, he was diagnosed with Parkinson's syndrome and the doctors related the cause to brain injuries caused due to boxing. His condition worsened with time and he died of septic shock in 2016.
