
Paes in Indian Davis Cup Team

The extraordinary tennis star Leander Paes will be seen in India’s Davis Cup team. It is for Asia/Oceania tie against Uzbekistan for next month. Mahesh Bhupathi is going to be the non – playing captain. This will be India’s first tie with Mahesh Bhupathi. More magic will be spreaded by return of Rohan Bopanna.
India won the last month tie against New Zealand by 4-1 in which Bopanna was not included. India has two specialist singles players as Yuki Bhambri and Ramkumar Ramnathan. S.P. Misra who leads the AITA Selection Committee named four single players. They are Ramkumar Ramanathan, Yuki Bhambri, Prajnesh Gunneswaran and N Sriram Balaji. He also named two doubles players - Rohan Bopanna and Leander Paes. Both of them are included in six member squad.
Hironmoy Chatterjee, Secretary General of AITA said that captain will decide the final four. He will discuss with the selection committee 10 days before finalizing. Mahesh Bhupathi has decided the new fitness guidelines for the team. Heal in Mumbai will be the place for fitness test. Players will be tested and suggested there.
