Rising Gymnast: Aruna Reddy
Editorials News | Mar-10-2018
India adds one more feather to its cap in the Gymnastics World Cup 2018 held in Melbourne in the women's vault event. Aruna Reddy beat Slovenia’s Tjasa Kysslef and Australia’s Emily Whitehead, with a score of 13.649. Over 16 countries participated in the event.
22-years-old Reddy recalled her late father B Narayana Reddy and dedicated her success to him, who had been instrumental on his daughter's entry into the field. Narayana could comprehend that zeal and immense potential in his daughter during her enrollment at the age of 5 years in Lal Bahadur Shastri Stadium in Hyderabad.
Aruna is a former black belt and a Karate trainer but she revealed that it was an emotional moment for her as she did not had her father watch achieve success. She undertook training under Brij Kishore and won numerous medals at three National Games with the first one in 2005.
Aruna secured 14th position in 2014 at the Commonwealth Games qualification round in the Vault apparatus and completed at 9th place in the Asian Games. However, she had a comeback when she had finished sixth in Vault during the 2017 Asian Championships.
With this achievement in her feat, Aruna is determined to give her best performance in the future international events. She is also a part of the 2018 Commonwealth Games that are to be held in Gold Coast, Australia.
Even though the career of a gymnast is very short lived, we wish her success in all her future endeavours.
