Editorials News | May-01-2018
The ATP released the rankings for the week yesterday confirming Federer has now spent a stunning 700 weeks in the top four. Federer has not played since the Miami Open in March when he lost in the first round to Thanasi Kokkinakis after losing the Indian Wells final to Juan Martin del Potro.
But he can celebrate another record of being in the top four for longer than anyone else. Federer’s feat of 700 weeks - more than 13 years - shows his incredible staying power at the top of the sport. Federer has created many records in his time, and some of those will likely never be surpassed.Federer first broke into the top four in March 2003, and the last time he wasn't amoung the top 20 players in the world was April 2001 - 17 years ago. Federer won the Australian Open again this year, before taking out his second title of 2018 in Rotterdam. He was beaten by Juan Martin del Potro in the BNP Paribas Open final in three fiesty sets, before being shocked by Kokkinakis in Miami.
