Dress Code In Public Schools

First of all, it is important to know the correct meaning of the dress code before discussing the merits and demits or use of it. Dress code means any particular type of uniform that was cam under the guidelines designed by the school. It contains all the specifications provided by the school its color, style, stitching, and even length. Dress code becomes an integral part of the school system and without it, the school can not be imagined as a whole. It is necessary to show the reputation of the school in between the society. Having a uniform and dress code has its importance and demerits.

Let us talk about the importance of school uniforms first. A dress regulation advances a more genuine school air which underlines scholastics and advances acceptable conduct. The most important benefit of the dress code is that it promotes equality. There is no conflict for the appearance among the students and reduces peer pressure and social conflict. Even many studies proved that dress code at the school level helps in regulating the behavior of the child and helps in eradication the violent behavior which may get arise due to the wardrobe set. It also gives a sense of security to the students as they all are the same and nothing is there to fear about. The dress code also helps the student to concentrate on studies because the dress of someone is not going to distract them.

Even after so many benefits, in modern scenarios students want to get free from this dress code rule as they are not feeling like free individuals and these are the rules which are getting implied forcefully. It also hinders the creativity of a child as the dressing sense of a child talks about the child a lot. This type of dress code hides the real personality of a child. In many cases, it becomes costly for low-income families as some schools have a very costly uniform and it is hard to afford for some students. Because of that they get scolded at the school and have a negative effect on the child. The dress code also makes it easy for the outsider to target the students from a particular school. The dress code is something having its pros and cons but it depends on us how well we are going to take it and respect it or handle it.
